Beautiful Cactus Flower

My SIL gave me this fantastic cactus pup and it bloomed before I even had a chance to plant the cactus.  I believe it's an Argentine Giant with pink/red blooms instead of the white bloom variety that I have.

A Good Way to Spend Mother's Day!

DH and I went to the Buckeye Equestrian Center on Mother's Day to watch our grandneice, Kara, participate in the season's final day of the Arizona Saddle Club Gymkhana events.  There were many different events Kara competed in and most all were nail biters.  However, she managed to pull out a first place high point trophy in her division.  The club also managed to surprise all the mothers with a wonderful tribute in the center of the arena by having the kids present each of them with flowers and many hugs.

Beautiful Blooms!

Here is the Martha Washington Geranium my sister-in-law, Phyllis, gave me last fall.  A real show stopper! The blooms on it were incredible and they lasted a very long time.

Phyllis planted a wonderful Argentine Giant cactus that has huge, reddish flowers when in bloom instead of the more common white flowers.   They're night bloomers and the flowers don't stay open very long--perhaps 1 to 2 days, but they are a sight to see when they are in bloom.   I rushed to her house to take some photos and by the time I got there, the blooms were already starting to fade a bit.   They were still absolutely gorgeous nonetheless.
